This post is for Shelia in Baltimore who had the great fortune of attending the Country Music Awards in NY City this past week.Of course country music is a big deal here in Texas and just knowing someone who rubbed elbows with Garth Brooks, makes me in my own mind, feel very special. (so it is about me after all).
Actually I have to admit there was a time not too long ago when I did listen to this music format. I suppose I was a closet country listener.
In fact, Willie Nelson sits in my IPOD right alongside Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Elton John, The Rolling Stones and even Elvis Presley. (There are more artists too including Neil Diamond - I must be showing my age)
Shelia, I hope you enjoyed your New York City sojourn, I see the event was held at Madison Square Garden. Did you have time to roam the adjacent streets? I bet you did and did you buy your husband an "authentic" (street price 5.00) Rolex watch?

Avery, I don't understand how to put this in comments on the blogger thing. So this is what I wrote but I couldn't sent it because it's tooo hard. I love ya hope all is well.
Dear Avery, Hi ya! Just got back from the Apple. I could have used your friendly advise and direction...because I got lost in some of the finest stores that the NYC has to offer...that's what I told my husband.
I did not buy anthing for Craig on this trip, but did indeed buy plenty for myself.
My friend Sharon and I had an excellent time...we got drunk in the Whiskey Bar, had dinner at One on Little 12th and closed the bar at the Marque- and that was just the first day.
Country music did take over the city. The show was excellent with a preformances by many greats acts like Paul Simon with Willie Nelson and O MY Goodness---Sir Elton John and Dolly Parton-couldn't tell you-- which one had the better outfit or makeup on but it was really good!!!
Garth was on stage in times Square, right in front of Sephora- I mention that because while I did not see Garth's performance, I did however spend money at Sephora ( I watched as the burly men put up the stage and steel for Garth's show-- which by the way, was one song!
Saw Patty La Belle in our hotel and some others. I saw a guy in Jimmy Choo's buying shoes for his wife...now that was cool!!
What I really wanted to see was Shep Smith in person but alas did not...but I think I saw Jamie Foxx or a guy that looked like Jamie Foxx.
I ate in a deli that had no tables but lap trays...do you know what it was called? We didn't sit where they had lap trays because it was too weird (but it was NYC) we sat at the counter. The food was go any way.
Thanks for the Nod to Country-I so hope you did not watch Joan and Melissa from the red carpet. Went past Dean and Delua and thought of our am coffee and dessert when I visted with you. Miss ya Buddy and hope you find what you are looking for in Houston...if not pick another city...it's the journey Pal. We are very proud of you here in Baltimore. Love ya Mean it....Sheila ( & Craig who did not get a watch).
It's clear that Shelia knows how to have a good time. I am jealous..... We did have fun earlier this year when she and her husband craig and her sister, my good friend of almost 20 years (maybe even more) came to visit NY City to see a Broadway Show. I was working the day of their visit at the network that will remain nameless, but we did manage to spend a few hours together. It was a fun time. Our time took us up Broadway, over to and up 5th Avenue past St. Patricks Cathedral, a vist to Dean and Delucca's in Rockefeller Center, through the lobby of the Plaza Hotel before it was closed for rennovations, over to Avenue of the Americas and back to Broadway where we said good bye. Lots of walking, (It was a nice winter/spring day) and shopping for the ladies. And Shelia, thanks again for lunch.
Avery
