A first for my Texas blog, a comming attraction. I'm working the words and research right now, but the story will be about a weekend visit to a small town about 70 miles out of Houston where these bluebonnet flowers decorate the landscape. The flowers I am told, were scattered around this area by Lady Bird Johnson but I have not been able to confirm that story yet. Lots of pictures from this weekend visit, some I'll share and others I'll keep for myself. But visiting this small piece of Texas was certainly a blast. Like I've been saying, you just dont' see things like this in Manhattan!

Brenham is so beautiful! I recommend checking into a bed and breakfast there sometime. There are horses you can ride, and such. I have heard that many people have their Weddings/Reception or just parties at some of the bigger bed and breakfasts. Interesting, eh?
The Legend of the Bluebonnet (by Tomie de Paola) is my daughter's favorite book! It tells the Indian legend of a drought that was killing the tribe, and a little girl sacrificed her most important possession to bring back the rain. And in the morning after she had burned her doll in sacrifice, bluebonnets covered the hillside all around her. And the book ends with something like "and every year in the spring the blubonnets decorate the Indians' land in a place now called Texas". Wow Av - thanks for the beautiful picture.
