The final boxes have been inventoried, taped shut and put in place for loading into the tractor trailer. It appears all is well for a Tuesday (today) pick up of what's boxed. The folks at ABS (Arkansas Best Freight) have been great to deal with. Their U-Pack service allowed me to save significant money from that of a traditional moving firm. I was first introduced to this firm about ten years ago when I produced a video news magazine for an international bank in New York who provided the trucking company with expansion financing. My profile of the firm, which is employee owned, was part of a quarterly video report that I produced for several years for the bank.
After the truck leaves, Trey and I head to Manhattan where I will play host. He has requested to walk through Times Square, ride a subway and have a real NY canoli (spelling?). I am sure I can handle his requests. Trey has been very helpful in the preparation of the moving boxes. We're looking at this point at about 30 boxes in all, one 32" television and one bicycle. All of the boxes are numbered and inventories. It was a lot of work, I've been bored to tears while preparing the shipment. I've also managed to throw out lots of stuff - at least four full garbage cans of stuff here at Frank's house and additional items tossed while back at my apartment.
So, we're ready to go. It's hard to believe I am leaving NY once again. I have mixed feelings as you can imagine. I am sad about the circumstances that surround the move but I suppose everything happens for a reason. My friends have family have been great and so very supportive. I feel loved - it's a great feeling.
